Available in four trims, the 2020 Mazda3 is a compact sedan with a sporty platform. Solid in five models, the 2020 Mazda6 is a midsize sedan that offers lots of power and versatility for daily driving. Both vehicles offer the i-Activsense safety suite, Mazda Connect infotainment and other signature amenities.
Displaying the SKYACTIV-G label, a 2.5 L DOHC engine is standard on the 2020 Mazda3 and Mazda6. When revolving at 4,000 RPM, this patented I-4 engine cranks out 186 pound-feet of torque. Engineered to burn regular unleaded fuel, this naturally aspirated powertrain delivers up to 186 horsepower. Optional on the Mazda6 model, 2.5T Dynamic Pressure engine whips out 227 hp when burning regular gasoline. If you fill the car’s fuel tank with premium gasoline, you’ll get up to 250 hp and 310 lb-ft from the turbocharged engine. Both Mazda sedans have the G-Vectoring Control Plus technology, which is part of the SKYACTIV-VEHICLE Dynamics system. An all-wheel drive from the i-ACTIV family is available for the Mazda3 model. Both sedans come standard with a six-speed gearbox that’s powered by the SKYACTIV-DRIVE technology. You can sharpen the responsiveness of the Mazda6’s transmission by activating the Sport Mode and Manual Shift.
The center display inside the 2020 Mazda3 measures 8.8 inches diagonally. You’ll get a standard 8.0-inch color touch screen inside the 2020 Mazda6. Both Mazda sedans allow you to link Android devices, iPhones and other smartphones through multiple portals in the Mazda Connect infotainment platform. HD Radio, Aha, Stitcher, Pandora Internet Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio are popular music channels that are accessible in both cars. Featuring the exclusive Mazda Harmonic Acoustics technology, an eight-speaker audio system is standard in entry-level Mazda3 trims. High-level editions have a 12-speaker sound system with the Bose label. Also made by this legendary company, an 11-speaker audio system is optional in the Mazda6. Featuring a trip computer, the Multi-Information Display (MID) is integrated into the Mazda6’s cockpit. Both sedans also offer the Active Driving Display on the windshield.
Safety and Security
Both Mazda sedans have the Blind Spot Monitoring, which detects potential problems in your blind zones on the road. The Mazda Radar Cruise Control ensures that you don’t drive too fast or slow behind other vehicles on the highway. This signature technology includes the Stop & Go function for a more pleasant ride in heavy traffic. Standard on the Mazda3, the Smart Brake Support reduces the risk of accidents with pedestrians and cyclists. The Mazda6 has the Advanced Smart City Brake Support, which is optimized for urban settings. You’ll also get the Lane-Keep Assist technology in both Mazda sedans. If you lose some control of the steering system, this function will immediately apply corrective measures. Available in the Mazda3 trim, the Driver Attention Alert analyzes the steering, throttle and other mechanical systems in real time. You might see some warnings from this technology on the LCD Meter Display. Installed on both Mazda models, the High Beam Control provides extra reassurance for taking trips at night.
